Dairy Products Can Cause Snoring

Have you ever been embarrassed by your snoring? Ever wake up in the morning to complaints about how loud and annoying you are to sleep with? Then watch what you eat. Following a healthy diet (as a lifestyle choice and most definitely before bed) can vastly improve the quality of life for both you and your partner.

Don’t Be a Baby

Stay away from milk and dairy products around bedtime. Add it to the list of snoring causes becaues dairy produces mucous, the thin film that clogs our throats and noses when we catch colds. Mucous blocks the airways that promote healthy breathing and quiet sleeping. The bottom line is no more milk with your bedtime cookies. The cookies are probably a bad idea too, but that’s a topic for another day.

Imagine this: You are out for a nice night on the town with your partner. He has a White Russian for dessert after dinner, and you pay for it because the dairy in the drink caused him to snore all night. If this has ever happened to you or your partner, cross dairy off of the late night menu. It’s still healthy to get your calcium early in the day, just do everyone a favor and stop drinking it at night.

Kids are usuallly quiet sleepers, but sometime dairy makes them snore too. If this happens, don’t be afraid to cut out their dairy at dinner time. Calcium supplements can replenish the nutrients lost, and the benefits from better sleep are amazing. Give it a try and stick with it if they show increased energy.
